3D Hispanic Colonial Town

About us

My vision is to create 3D Hispanic Colonial Towns. As a Filipino, Hispanic culture, baroque architecture and colonial houses are part of our culture. For me, they are the most beautiful art form that fascinates me. Sometimes it’s easier to do your craft if you have personal experience and that is part of your culture.

I traveled to many places here in the Philippines. One common denominator of the provinces that I traveled to are the baroque architecture of parochial churches or basilicas. However, I could hardly find colonial houses like those in Mexico and Colombia that I watched from vlogs. The colonial houses I found were in Ilocos and Intramuros Manila. There was supposed to be one in Taal but was buried under the ashes when Taal Volcano erupted.

I don't know if this lack of preservation was a result of the natural disasters, destruction of World War II, lack of support from the government and tourism or simply because of the Philippine geography as an island. Just imagine how hard it was for the Spanish architects or government to communicate that time. I would say even up to present time, with all these digital technologies and telecommunication, the government could hardly sync national infrastructure projects. Added to these are the annual battering calamities caused by super typhoons that causes major cities especially Metro Manila to submerge half of its houses on flood.

As compared with Mexico and Colombia, they are 1 piece of land and the hispanic colonial towns from different provinces are not exactly the same but very similar in style. Their tourism and even vloggers promote their towns and culture a lot especially in Mexico, specifically in Michoachan. From these latino vlogs you can really trace the similarity of Filipino culture to that of Mexican and Colombians. From surnames, words, fruits like rambotan, zapote and guyaanos, to delis like menudo, chicharon, longaniza and chorizo, hispanic colonial houses and of course religion.

Also, one of the biggest turning points in my life is when I started to work with Latino clients like Cubanos, Dominicanos, Mexicanos and Colombianos. They truly opened the portal for me to see hispanic history and culture on the other side of the Pacific. These experiences inspired me to focus on 3D arts related to hispanic colonial arts.

Other than the aesthetic purpose for creating 3D Arts, 3D has the capabilities to preserve a town’s architecture. Should there be havoc as a result of the disaster, the architecture of the town can be restored by referencing 3D models. What gave me this idea is the 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Colombia that destroyed buildings in Cali, Pereira, Manizales and Valle del Cauca.

One of the preserved Hispanic colonial towns in Colombia that was affected by the earthquake was El Cairo in Valle del Cauca, a town famous for coffee production. It was said that 80% of the town was destroyed. Some colonial houses are doomed to be demolished because of the damage making it uninhabitable and may collapse at any time. There’s a chance that a local government will have a blueprint of the town. But wouldn’t it be great if a local government has a 3D virtual tour of its town? That way you can preserve the memories and architecture that built the identity and culture of the town.
