3D Tavern

Concept
I’ve been working on a website project that’s why I wasn’t able to create 3D noodles for 3 weeks. Simply because I’m a bit tired and it splits my attention. The website project is really good. But at the same time I need to run html code because of the limited features of my website builder. I even had thoughts of pursuing coding which means there’s a compromise in pursuing my 3D skills. I took some time to decide whether I should go for coding or 3d.
One morning I woke up and decided its 33d that I want to pursue. At the same time, the Netflix series 100 years solitude Season was released. I was even inspired more to pursue 3D because I really love Hispanic culture and colonial arts and architecture. With 3D I can relive those lovely art forms during the Spanish era. One of my favorite scenes in the season of 100 years of solitude is when Coronel Aurelio’s son is in a tavern. Some issues between the Liberal and Conservative parties ignited and caused trouble inside the tavern. While both party members were fighting, Coroneel’s Aurelio’s son continued drinking and managed to get out. Although he is a member of the Liberal party, he remained discreet. Sometimes in times like this, we all need to be discreet.
This tavern scene inspired me to create this 3D model. Except for the lamplight, this time I don’t have a sketch or reference. Just a plain memory from the classic Latino series that I watched on Netflix. I cannot look for a reference at that time because there is no PLDT internet for days due to Typhoon Dolphin.
Among the items that I created are:
Guitar
Lamp
Tables
Chairs
Rhum
Wine
Longaniza
Ham
Concrete walls
I don’t have a new texture but I customized the existing textures that I have in my asset library. Among the reusable textures are wood, aluminum, steel and glass. Make sure you have these in your asset library. Among the fun parts I made here is the longaniza and its red texture. It looks like the longaniza from Lucban, Quezon with lots of minced garlic. I think it’s also the second time that I included it in my 3d scenario. I also like the dramatic lighting with subtle and off white colors. It really illuminated a portion of the grey concrete walls. I also added a lamp on the top of the table to illuminate the longaniza and the ham.
Overall I like the vintage design. I have to admit that I really have a taste for this brownish, vintage design. Probably from here, I can start building the 3D Hispanic town that I envisioned. Sometimes I wonder why I have been in the technology industry for 20 years and yet I have a very old fashioned taste - it’s either the 1890s or a century after - the 1990s. Maybe my role in life is to harness the power of technology like 3D Blender so I can resurrect the arts of the past and relive their beauty.
