Unboxing GoPro Chesty for Walk Tour

As I have mentioned my frustration that motivated me to start GoPro Videography, a series of events happened that pushed me further to videography. It was Holy Week or Semanasanta 2026 when I received my contract. Instead of thinking how low it was, I decided to go to the town of Alfonso, Cavite and shoot videos of the procession, especially since I am a member of San Pedro’s Aviñante clan. But instead of shooting the whole procession with my GoPro hero 9 Black, I just covered up to San Pedro’s line only. I joined my clan and had a long talk with my relative whom I talked to for the first time. That’s how the Aviñante clan relate to each other. We all feel close with each other.

That moment sparked my desire for GoPro Videography. Luckily, I have an appointment in Manila and I have the chance to shoot videos in Quiapo, Manila and Pasong Tamo, Makati. I have my GoPro with me but the heat in Quiapo is extreme plus the streets are narrowed by the crowd. I am also tired and could hardly take a video. By the evening I tried to shoot in Greenbelt, Makati but it was so lonely there. Greenbelt 1 was torn down for reconstruction and all the lights and music were off. It’s hard to imagine that Greenbelt, as colorful and bright back in 2019, suddenly turned gloomy. For some strange reason, it seems that the whole Pasong Tamo turned quiet too.

I rarely buy gear for GoPro but when I came home, I decided to buy a GoPro Chesty. So when I come back to Quiapo, I can easily shoot videos without holding it. I searched on Shoppee and found a GoPro Chesty on the GoPro store. The price was PHP 2,249. GoPro Chesty is wrapped in your body like a suspender and the GoPro is mounted on the flat cushion in the middle. It is adjustable, comfortable to wear and provides stable shots.

To test the GoPro, I went to the town of Alfonso, Cavite and walked in the food bazaar and bought some groceries. There are few open stores in the food bazaar and there’s nothing to shoot. I went to D’Carts grocery store and filmed the whole time that I am buying groceries.

After watching my first walk tour, it was really fun to watch and you can see how stable the GoPro Chesty works. Of course do not forget also to set your Stabilization to High when shooting a walk tour. My favorite shot is in D’Carts Grocery wherein there's a lot of visual tension and contrast of light and shadows. Frames move from all directions because I am picking up items left and right, up and down.

I edited my videos using Adobe Premiere Pro and added Lumetri > Speedlooks > SL Blue Steel (Universal). Other than learning to shoot walk tours, it seems I finally found my video style. I want it to have lots of visual tension, contrast and chiaroscuro. After publishing my videos, I know that this is the beginning of my videography.
